Joel Olson's Projects in Chemical Education
I have two projects in chemical education that are in their infancy. The first project is working toward developing a series of classroom lecture demonstrations for the description of vibrational spectroscopy. The goal of this project is to successfully construct the demonstration apparatus in a simple and inexpensive manner.
The second educational project is the development of instructional materials that describe the behavior of surfactants. My goal with the surfactant project is to compile lecture demonstrations and laboratory experiments that can be used to compliment chemistry curricula from the freshman to senior undergraduate levels.
For both of the projects described above, I plan to publish pertinent results and methods in the Journal of Chemical Education.
