Reservations are not accepted at the Applied Computing Center, usage is on a first-come first-served basis. During peak times, such as mid-terms and final exams, clients are limited to blocks of two hours, and Florida Tech students and faculty have priority over the public.
Faculty who wish to reserve computers for class or project purposes are encouraged to contact Nikki Hoier, the Applied Computing Center Manager (x8119), for arrangements
Printing at the center is cost-per-page. Clients may use their Florida Tech ID card or a Library DART card for printing. Money may be deposited on either card at the library's front desk on the first floor. The Applied Computing Center does not make any cash transactions. Charges for different types of printing can be found on the Resources page.
The Applied Computing Center operates on the Florida Institute of Technology network and internet connection. Users therefore are subject to the University's defined Acceptable Use Policy . Further, as this is a public lab, Pornography is strictly prohibited. We keep logs of all computer activities and violators will be reported both to Florida Tech Security and the Melbourne Police Department. The computers are for academic use only and use of chat clients (AIM, Yahoo! Messenger, etc) as well as IRC channels and chat rooms is not permitted. Using message boards other than for research or academic collaboration is also not allowed. Gaming is discouraged on ACC machines as well. Repeated disregard for these rules will result in the client being asked to leave the lab. If the user refuses to leave or continues to use the computing resources inaproptiately, he/she may be escorted out by security and possibly banned from the lab and/or the campus.
