Outstanding Achievement Award
Dr. Daniel Williams – ’90 MBA ’95 Ph.D.
Dr. Williams exemplifies true engineering talent. He has been most successful in his career as a Chief Engineer at TRW Commercial Steering Systems. He not only has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Florida Tech but also an M.B.A. and recently he attained an M.A. degree in History from Purdue University.
Among Dr. Williams’ noteworthy achievements is the management of research and development project teams that have led the way to improved suspension systems for automobiles that have dramatically improved a vehicle’s ride and their handling. He has also managed a team that has launched computer controlled steering systems (“drive by wire”) for automobiles.
While busy with his day-to-day work activities at TRW, he has also managed to publish several technical papers.
Outstanding Humanitarian Award
Mr. Patrick Kennedy – ’87 MBA
Pat Kennedy has a long history of giving back. In 1998, Pat chaired the steering committee that founded Melbourne’s Shepherd Center for seniors that annually serves more than 1,000 local residents. When classes began in 1999, her served as the Executive Director of the Center, passing the baton in late 2006. Since 2006, he’s remained on the Board of Trustees of the Center.
The addition of the Shepherd’s Center has greatly benefited this community by providing a unique and remarkable opportunity for continuing education. Enrolling in classes is relatively inexpensive and instructors are often experts in the field in which they are instructing. Ten churches and one synagogue provide classroom space for the Center.
Pat’s effort provided the impetus for two more Centers to develop locally. The Center Pat founded now bears the name of Senior Adventures in Learning and has become a private non-profit organization.
He has also founded Scout Master Troop 380 at the Holy Name of Jesus in Indialantic and has been active in many service clubs.
