Mr. Dively joined the Harris-Seybold Company of Cleveland in 1937 at a time when it was a small manufacturer of printing equipment.  He became director in 1941 and three years later was named vice president and general manager.  In 1947, he was named president and from 1954 to 1961 held dual positions as president and chief executive officer.  He remained as chief executive until his retirement in 1971.  Under his management and through mergers and acquisitions, annual sales of the Harris-Intertype Corporation, as the company came to be known, jumped to more than $2 billion a year from $10 million a year and was one of the leading corporations in the electronic publishing industry.
