Proctored Exams

In order to help us support students, staff, and faculty, please keep the following in mind:

  • It is the responsibility of the instructor to have the exam at the ASC once the student has made the appropriate arrangements; it is the responsibility of the student to schedule the exam before the date that it is to be given.
  • It is the responsibility of the instructor to indicate the student(s) who will be taking the assessment by labeling each exam or providing a list of students who will be taking the exam along with the exact number of copies of the exam. The Academic Support Center does not make copies of exams in an effort to maintain academic integrity of assessments. Exams should be dropped off in a sealed envelope; exams should not be emailed or faxed.
  • It is the responsibility of the instructor to indicate what tools/items are allowed for the exam (calculator, page of notes, textbook, etc.); it is the responsibility of the student to arrive on time for the exam, with the allowed and necessary materials.
  • It is the responsibility of the student to adhere to the following ASC policies:
    • No cell phones, portable music players, PDAs, or other electronic communication devices are allowed in the testing area. These are asked to be turned off and left at the front of the ASC.
    • All quiz/exam appointments must be scheduled such that the exam is finished by 5PM.
    • All students must present their Florida Tech ID card and sign in when they arrive for a exam.
  • It is the responsibility of the student to notify both the ASC and the instructor if he/she is unable to take the assessment before the time for which the appointment was scheduled.
  • It is the responsibility of the instructor to pick up the quiz/exam within two working days of the time when the student completed the exam. The ASC does not return or deliver assessments to instructors or departments upon completion.

The Academic Support Center provides services for all students; however, scheduling priority for exams and quizzes is given to those students who have a documented need for testing accommodations such that the ASC is the only place where they may complete assessments. Students who wish to make up exams that were missed due to extenuating circumstances such as illness must make arrangements with their instructors prior to scheduling the exam at the ASC. Make-up exams will only be permitted as space allows during the regular semester, and both the student and instructor must adhere to all ASC policies.

Please abide by the procedures and commmunicate with our testing coordinator, Marge Richardson (674-8009). Examinations are only proctored in the Academic Support Center on Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Please make sure to schedule the entire examination time during these hours.
