Welcome to our new Mentor Program!

Our Goal:
Provide extended support that can positively impact student adjustment and academic success and enhance the learning process.

Our Expectation:
Mentors will provide the support, care, concern and inspiration that may be instrumental in a student’s successful transition to the college environment. The mentor will be a positive role model and a reliable “go to” person for new students. The mentor will help the student utilize on-campus support services to ease through the sometimes-difficult adjustment period of the crucial first year.

We need Volunteers!
We are now recruiting Mentors from the entire employment pool at Florida Tech. Faculty, administrators and staff are encouraged to volunteer. We look forward to hearing from all of you who are interested in making a difference in the success and in the lives of our freshman class

Your Time Commitment

After a short training program, we will ask Mentors to devote a little time each week to their mentored student. This “contact” time could be an email, phone call and/or lunch on campus. If you choose to do more with your student, i.e. dinner at your home, help with homework, a movie, or an invitation for a holiday meal, all the better. We want you to spend just enough time to be able to recognize warning signs that may indicate that your mentored student is having academic, physical, psychological or social problems.
