Senior Director, Continuing Education and Director of Behavioral Science and Technology
National speaker and trainer, Cindy Schmitt has over 20 years of experience in the fields of training, performance management and process improvement. Her experience includes motivational speaking, performance management training, and process improvement consulting for schools, nonprofit organizations, businesses and governmental agencies across the United States.
Cindy holds a bachelor's in professional studies from Barry University, a master’s in Christian counseling from Chapel Christian University and a master's in computer information systems from Florida Tech. She has served on numerous boards and committees at local, state, and national level. Cindy Schmitt's realistic, upbeat and systematic approach has earned her recognition as a leader in her field. Two such honors include Air Force Space Command Training Director of the Year, and the Air Force Professional Performer Award given to the top 5%.
Currently, Cindy is the senior director of Continuing Education, which includes the Applied Behavior Analysis Professional Development program that is offered live and through distance learning. She is currently involved in research involving instructional technology in the online learning environment. Her passion is discovering and experimenting with new learning technologies.
Financial Aid Coordinator
Amanda Culver is the financial aid coordinator at Continuing Education. She assists students with registration and financial aid and works as advisor for the program. Prior to her role at Continuing Education, she spent ten years working at a preschool as an assistant financial director and also as a voluntary prekindergarten teacher. During that time, she worked closely with children and truly understands the value of applied behavior analysis.
In her spare time, Amanda loves to spend time with her husband and two children, is highly involved with her kids’ sports, and is a seasoned musician.
Media Production Manager
Arianna Davis is the media production technician at Continuing Education. As media production manager at Florida Tech, Arianna is responsible for overseeing all operations within the studio. She directs, edits and facilitates all forms of media content produced for the office of Continuing Education. While holding this position, Arianna has been involved in revamping the processes and technologies used in producing media content. She graduated from the University of North Florida with a bachelor’s of science in communications: electronic media.
In her free time, Arianna enjoys taking on outside projects including freelance work and pro bono work for her friends and family.
Beverly Strickland oversees the registration and support staff within Continuing Education. She trains office staff and co-instructors in various systems such as Canvas, Adobe Connect, RP Now, Coursewebs and the registration system. She enjoys assisting users of these programs and problem solving to find ways of improving the experience of students throughout all of Continuing Education’s programs.
When she's not resolving a crisis at Continuing Education, Beverly enjoys cross stitching, online gaming, skyping with her English friends, and playing mind games with her cat, Beautiful.
As a course coordinator, Brian is responsible for the development, marketing, recruitment and coordination of Continuing Education courses from inception to completion. Prior to his employment with Continuing Education, Brian worked in creating illustrations and graphics for multiple scientific publications. Brian received his bachelor’s in marine biology from Florida Institute of Technology and is currently pursuing a master’s degree through Florida Tech. Brian’s own research has explored the influence of temperature on feeding performance in the invasive Indo-Pacific lionfish (Pterois volitans).
In his free time, he enjoys watching films, gardening, upcycling and restoring vintage furniture.
Learning Management Systems Coordinator
In his role at Continuing Education, Eric Wells configures, sets up, maintains and supports the courses within Continuing Education's learning management systems. Eric currently holds a bachelor's degree in software engineering and is pursuing a master's degree in software engineering from Florida Institute of Technology.
When he's not creating code for Continuing Education, Eric enjoys indulging his culinary skills, playing video games and reading.
Erika Cobb recently received her bachelor’s degree in business environmental studies at Florida Institute of Technology. Currently, she is a registration clerk for Continuing Education. Part of her role at Continuing Education includes examining and evaluating online media, reporting on general video content guidelines and analyzing trends in online video media.
In her spare time, Erika enjoys going to the beach, scuba diving, driving her convertible Jetta and soaking up the Florida sun.
As student coordinator, Frank assists students on their journey to becoming a BCBA or a BCaBA. He can answer any questions students have prior to, during and after the courses regarding coursework and the requirements to attain board certification. Frank also assists students with any issues that may arise while enrolled in our courses.
In his spare time, Frank enjoys writing and playing music on his acoustic guitar, singing in his punk band, watching sports and spending time with his son.
In her current role as a student assistant, she assists in creating course marketing materials for upcoming courses in order to ensure that the programs that Florida Tech's Continuing Education offers are found by their intended audiences. This work consists, in part, of creating flyers and eye-catching emails, content and more. Fumiko Shinkawa is a humanities major at Florida Institute of Technology, currently pursuing her bachelor’s.
In her downtime, she particularly enjoys toting heavy photography equipment and is an avid video gamer.
Jennifer Bornemann is a project administrator in the office of Continuing Education. She oversees the logistics of Continuing Education’s courses, manages the CEU course-related content and maintains course accreditation for Continuing Education courses. She holds a bachelor of science in psychology from the University of Central Florida and has eight years of medical experience, including, medical billing, insurance coordinator, medical assistant, psychological tester and medical secretary, which has helped her in her current role.
In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family, baking and relaxing.
As a registration process coordinator in the office of Continuing Education, Jessica Parker assists students with registrations and questions over the phone and on the web. A former Buffalo, New York, native, Jessica has an extensive customer service and hospitality background providing her with exceptional interpersonal skills and a high degree of professionalism and dedication in her role.
When she’s not at her desk, she’s savoring new cuisines, traveling, expanding her palate for coffee or talking long walks with her dogs Bo and Hailey.
Karsing Fung, a learning management systems assistant with Continuing Education, received his bachelor’s in aerospace engineering from Florida Tech and is currently pursuing a master of arts in propulsion at Florida Tech. His role at Continuing Education includes providing customer support, maintaining course systems and facilitating academic integrity.
Karsing’s hobbies include assembling plastic models kits, writing short stories and reading science fiction.

His role at Continuing Education includes providing customer support, maintaining course systems and facilitating academic integrity.
Karsing’s hobbies include assembling plastic models kits, writing short stories, and reading science fiction.
Kathy Hennessy is the communications coordinator with Continuing Education. At Continuing Education, her duties include updating and maintaining the knowledge management system; writing, updating, and maintaining continuing education procedures; and assisting with the writing and editing of press releases, web pages and marketing materials. In her past, she has held positions as a writing tutor, copy editor, college librarian, college lecturer in writing and literature and an academic advisor. She received her BA in English from the University of New Hampshire and MA in the humanities from California State University.
In her spare time, Kathy thoroughly enjoys reading, writing, baking, looking for seashells on the beach and pretending she has a green thumb.
As a student assistant at Continuing Education, Marianna assists the professional development programs project coordinator in marketing research, logistics and implementing other professional development programs. She also plays an active role in helping to grow the Lifelong Scholar Society and is in charge of Continuing Ed’s weekly newsletter, the Continuing Educator. Marianna Sansone is currently pursuing her bachelor of science in biology at the Florida Institute of Technology.
When she’s not studying, Marianna enjoys going to the beach, hiking, running, traveling and spending time with her two loveable sugar gliders, Momo and Stitch.
As a finance assistant, Masrur Rahman is responsible for the collection, logging and appropriate processing of financial transactions and contracts in support of the office of Continuing Education’s business processes. Prior to joining Continuing Education, Masrur worked at the Academic Support Center of Florida Tech as a math, physics, chemistry and engineering tutor. He holds a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering and is currently pursuing his master’s in systems engineering from Florida Tech.
In his free time he enjoys indulging in his entrepreneurial spirit, traveling, playing soccer and spending time with family.
As support coordinator at Continuing Education, Matt McHenry assists students in accessing course materials and ensures that Continuing Education's courses are running effectively and efficiently. Matt received both his bachelor’s in history and master’s in sports management from Florida State University.
When Matt's not on the phone helping students, he enjoys coaching the Florida Tech’s women’s basketball team, golfing and enjoying a good cigar.
As web developer for Continuing Education, Matt Thompson is responsible for the content management of the entire Continuing Education website. In addition, he also procures and develops marketing material for the various programs within the office of Continuing Education. Prior to his role at Continuing Education, Matt had extensive experience developing websites, including sites for two Fortune 500 companies, and worked at Harris Corporation managing web content and developing event spotlights for the Harris home page. Matt holds a bachelor's in communication with an emphasis on the media arts from Wingate University in North Carolina.
When Matt is not designing, he is illustrating, animating, blogging and spending quality time with his collection of movies music and games.
Pao Hang assists the communications coordinator with maintaining and improving the knowledge management system called solutions. Pao obtained her bachelor’s in psychology and communication studies at California State University, Stanislaus. Currently, she is a second year graduate student in the Applied Behavior Analysis and Organizational Behavior Management program at Florida Tech.
In her spare time, she likes to catch up with family and friends, explore Florida and read nonacademic books.
Sarah Foley is the outreach supervisor for Continuing Education at Florida Tech. Her role at Continuing Education includes managing the marketing budget, coordinating marketing outreach and acting as a liaison between various programs. Sarah holds a bachelor of science in business administration from College of Charleston and an MBA from University of Phoenix. She previously worked as an admissions recruiter at Savannah Technical College for a year and a field representative at University of Phoenix-Overseas Military Division in Vicenza, Italy, for three years.
When she’s not at work doing what she loves, she’s at home playing with her Pomeranian, Penelope, traveling with her husband, kayaking or trying various new sports.
Assistant Project Administrator
Shannon Biagi collaborates on several different aspects of Continuing Education's operations. Her role at Continuing Education includes mapping out existing processes and outlining new ones, creating task analyses and checklists for Continuing Education’s procedures, assisting with the coordination of the Biomedical Engineering Continuing Education program, and other Organizational Behavior Management related projects. She is currently pursuing her Master's in Applied Behavior Analysis and Organizational Behavior Management at Florida Tech and is also the president of Florida Tech's Society for Performance Management as well as the Vice President of the Behavior Analysis Student Association.
When she is not in class, holding meetings, or working at Continuing Education, Shannon enjoys long-distance hiking, and dreams of someday thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine (2,180 miles)!
Silvia Barker, office coordinator, plays a crucial role in the day-to-day happenings of Florida Tech’s office of Continuing Education. In addition to keeping the office running smoothly, Silvia processes new staff paperwork, collaborates with outside vendors for all office purchases, large and small, and provides support for event planning for the department. Prior to her role at Continuing Education, Silvia worked as a human resources coordinator for Florida Tech, as well as an administrative assistant to the president of Florida Tech Aviation.
In her spare time, Silvia and her husband enjoy kayaking, traveling to see family, reading, hiking, bicycling and discovering new cuisines.
As a student assistant, Talia assists the Project Administrator with SACS data, requirements, and general data analysis. She currently is pursuing her Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics at Florida Institute of Technology.
When she's not analyzing data for Continuing Education or for class, she is playing Squash or performing with the Florida Tech Dance Club.
Professional Development Programs Project Coordinator
As professional development programs project coordinator, Tammy actively seeks new business opportunities for the office of Continuing Education, as well as helps facilitate the growth of Continuing Education’s professional development programs. She also manages the scheduling, collaboration and accommodation for the Lifelong Scholar Society, a new program that aims to increase community involvement with the Florida Institute of Technology. Tammy holds a bachelor of science in psychology from the University of Florida and is currently pursuing her MBA with a focus in marketing at Florida Tech.
When she is not in the office or out in the community, she loves to paint, scuba dive and spend time outside.
As project administrator, Theresa Regan promotes the achievement of outreach objectives related to Continuing Education courses, workshops and other events. She holds a bachelor’s in management information systems and is currently pursuing a master’s in public administration from Florida Institute of Technology. Her in-depth knowledge of problem solving skills and techniques, training and development and coordinating projects has aided her in her role as project administrator.
Theresa fulfilled her lifelong dream of moving to Florida on October 15, 2012, after leaving her 27-year career in Connecticut to join the Florida Tech team.
Media Program Assistant
In his role as media program assistant at Continuing Education, Zach Hibbard assists the media production technician in filming and editing Continuing Education online courses. Prior to being a part of the office of Continuing Education, Zach was an award-winning independent filmmaker and a freelance videographer. His extensive background and academic experience and his creativity aid in improving and creating exceptional video content for Continuing Education’s online programs.
When he’s not in the studio filming, he’s making movies for fun, playing video games, and writing science fiction novels.
