How Do I Apply For an FSI Award?
1. Who should I contact if I have a question about FSI05?
Contact any of the Directors or Alumni for further information on the process, activities, timeline, etc. Any of us will be able to assist.
2. How do I submit my proposal?
To submit your proposal, send it to ctle@fit.edu by this year's deadline. Be sure to use the guidelines listed.
3. What are the guidelines again?
We have loose guidelines for the proposal because we do not want to limit your creativity. Feel free to browse through the Proposal Samples . That said, we expect to receive the following:
1) Endorsement by a Director or FSIAlumnus.
2) Proposal Summary - 150 word summary
3) Proposal - We ask that you limit your proposal to 1000 words or less.
4. What are my obligations assuming my proposal is accepted?
- You must be available to participate one week in May and one week in August.
- You must be committed to implement the proposed project
- You must be willing to participate in the Technology in Action Series Events
- You must serve on the selection team for the next Summer Institute
5. What are the deliverables at the conclusion of FSI?
1) Last year, participants maintained a journal to track their progress. We intend to use the same basic approach again.
2) Participants will need to create some form of archival media to supplement their final project. This should be in the form of a report, broadcast, or web site.
3) We also expect that you will be able to evaluate not only your effort during the institute, but also the feasibility of implementing your project on a larger scale.
This year's institute will have more structure relative to last year, so expect more detail in the deliverables as we approach May.
6. What if I am at a conference or on vacation during one of the weeks?
Participation in FSI requires that you attend each week of the Faculty Summer Institute.
7. After I submit my proposal, what happens?
After you submit your proposal, the next significant date is in March when we will notify applicants who we have selected for the Faculty Summer Institute. During the review process, we may contact you for more information. Last year, we went through a series of interviews with applicants to gather more information about the proposal and help applicants "fine tune" their proposals.
8. Who can submit an application?
Any Florida Tech faculty member may apply. |
