Computer Sciences and Cybersecurity
Dr. LeVan has over 25 years of experience in the design and development of hardware and software for real-time computer systems used in high performance applications that range from real-time communications, control, and operating systems to robotics. He was the System Architect of the AN/BSY-2 real-time operating system and network used in the Seawolf class of submarines. He was the Chief System Architect for the National Weather System (SIMIN) and the Destructive Waters (DESWAT) programs in Romania. Dr. LeVan invented the Magnetic Communication System (MagneLink® MCS) through-the-Earth (TTE) voice and text system for use in coal mines during emergencies. Dr. LeVan was the Principal Investigator on the CRAD funding provided by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and IRAD funding provided by Lockheed Martin to develop this technology. Dr. LeVan received four patents and a Trade Secret during the development of this system’s technologies. Dr. LeVan’s current research interests include novel uses of magnetic energy.
