Johnson, Kevin

Associate Professor
Marine and Environmental Systems

Educational Background

Ph.D. University of Oregon

Professional Experience

From 1998-1999, Dr. Johnson
was a postdoctoral fellow at the Smithsonian InstitutionÂ’s Marine Station at Fort Pierce, Fla., where
his research included investigations of plasticity in development and metamorphosis of Florida Coast invertebrates.

From late 1999-2000, he was postdoctoral fellow at the National Science FoundationÂ’s Center for Environmental Analysis--Centers for Research Excellence in Science and Technology (CEA-CREST), located at California State University, Los Angeles. CEA-CREST research on mussel population dynamics was conducted at the Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies (University of Southern California, Santa Catalina Island) and at Bamfield Marine Station (Vancouver Island, B.C.).

Before coming to Florida Tech, he was
an assistant professor of zoology at Ohio Wesleyan University (Delaware, Ohio).

Dr. Johnson has worked at seven marine field laboratories and has accumulated several months at-sea experience. He is a member of the Western Society of Naturalists, the Ecological Society of America, and the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology.
