Returning Student Expenses

The goal of financial aid is to provide you with the means to finance your education at Florida Tech.

Approximate annual costs (two semesters) for full-time students returning to FLorida Tech for the 2011-2012 Academic Year are displayed below.  For a more precise estimate of your expected education costs click on the individual hyperlinks

* Flight costs are charged as you fly and are based on the aircraft type, actual flight hours, actual instructor hours and current fuel costs. The displayed flight fee of $15,000 per year should be considered a minimum estimate. To budget your own flight costs with more precision you should review theFlight Costs section of the Fees and Expenses web page and discuss your flight program with a College of Aeronautics counselor.

** Totals do not include transportation, books, personal expenses, health insurance or the International Student Programming Fee ($30 per semester or $60 per year) that offsets the university's cost to comply with mandatory federal reporting. Health insurance is required. The Florida Tech student health insurance plan is automatically billed to all students except those who provide timely proof of coverage on another U.S. health plan.  (Pending receipt of the official 2011-2012 rates, you may wish to use an estimate of $1100 per year.)

Use your Financial AId Awards displayed in PAWS and the summary chart above, or costs from the hyperlinked official cost web pages, to help estimate your net billable expenses for the year.

Financing Out-of-Pocket Expenses

Pay by the Semester

Tuition, room, board and mandatory fees are billed by semester.  Semester rates are available on the following web pages:

  • Tuition and Fees  (http://www.fit.edu/registrar/registration/tuitionchrgs.php)
  • Room  (http://www.fit.edu/housing/rates.php)
  • Board  (http://www.fit.edu/food/mealplan.php)

Florida Tech Panther Payment Plans enable you to spread out your payments. The Touchnet Student Account Center (SAC) enables students to authorize a parent or other person to access their account information and make payments for them.  To find more information, go to Panther Payment Plan (http://www.fit.edu/sfs/paymentplans.php).

Need to stretch expenses over a longer period?

The Federal PLUS Loan is one option for making the difference between available financial aid and estimated education costs and for stretching those expenses over a longer period of time. Parents of dependent undergraduate students, or graduate students themselves, may borrow up to the cost of education less the value of other financial aid awards. Plus Loans are based on the borrower's credit standing rather than on the student's financial need.  For more information about applying, go to StudentLoans.gov (https://StudentLoans.gov).
