Chi Phi Wins Excellence Award
chi phi 07 award

Chi Phi National Fraternity's Xi Delta chapter at Florida Tech was awarded the Dr. Thomas Gehring Award for Chapter Excellence at the 142nd Chi Phi Annual Congress, held in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The congress meets annually to review the state of the national fraternity and for legislative business.

The Congress is composed of delegates from 59 chapters, colonies, alumni associations and Chi Phi clubs from across the country.

To earn the award, Xi Delta worked hard to reduced debt and maintain an average chapter size. The chapter also achieved a chapter grade point average the above the GPA for all chapters.

At the congress awards are given to exceptional chapters and representative organizations to recognize outstanding commitment to the national fraternity's ideals, values, and policies. Recognition is based on chapter performance during the previous year as well as the application materials submitted.

The award for Chapter Excellence is named after Dr. Thomas Gehring, a Chi Phi from Indiana University who served the national fraternity for 20 years until his death in 1980. The Chi Phi Fraternity is a values-based organization founded on truth, honor and personal integrity, values which guide the fundamental purposes of the fraternity.  Chi Phi chapters are active today on 59 college campuses.

TKE Alumnus Wins National Award

TKE founder      TKE's Omicron Nu chapter's founder, Julius "Poppi" Edelmann won the "Grand Prytanis Award."  The award is given out every two years to a frater who the President of the International Fraternity feels contributed the most to Tau Kappa Epsilon.  The award is decided by the discretion of the Grand Prytanis (President) with no submitted or necessary application.  Poppi founded the Omicron Nu chapter in 1988 to rekindle the existence of TKE on Florida Tech's campus.  He was a student here in the 1980's and he now works as a project manager with NASA.  He is looked up to by every Teke here and is the Grand Crysophylos (Treasurer) of the international fraternity.      The award was presented at TKE's biennial Conclave.  Conclave is a great celebration of brotherhood, where Tekes from all over the world come together for three days to select the leadership of the Fraternity, vote on changes to the governing rules and policies, recognize our best and brightest Fraters and Chapters, participate in intense leadership development, and build friendships.        Congratulations to Julius "Poppi" Edelmann!  He exemplifies Omicron Nu chapter's recognition in the international fraternity.
Pi Lambda Phi Wins Numerous Awards

Pi Lam crest      Dr. Al Brown received the Edward Goldman Alumnus Achievement Award.  This award honors an alumnus who has contributed the most to Pi Lambda
Phi during the preceding year(s).
Michael Lindsay Allred received the Rafer Johnson Upsilon Achievement Award.  This award recognizes an undergraduate Brother who most nearly exemplifies the outstanding qualities of Olympian Rafer Johnson in the areas of athletics,
scholarship, and service to the community, college, and fraternity.      Justin Grigg and Ryan Woosley received the Scholarship Keys award.  This award recognizes graduating seniors who have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent) or higher at the end of his first semester senior year.      Florida Tech's Delta Upsilon chapter of Pi Lambda Phi also received awards and/or recognition for outstanding operations, finance, athletics, and alumni relations.  Congratulations to Pi Lambda Phi!
alphaphicrestato crestAlpha Phi and Alpha Tau Omega Founders' Days

Congratulations to Alpha Phi on their upcoming Founder's Day.  One hundred and thirty five years ago, 10 women were brave enough to band together and form a women's fraternity.  Those women had courage, vision and drive to complete what they thought had never been done before and was impossible to some.  Because of the courage of their founders, they are privileged enough to be able to exist today on 143 campuses.

One hundred and forty two years ago, Alpha Tau Omega was founded by Otis Allan Glazebrook, Erskine Mayo Ross, and Alfred Marshall at the Virginia Military Institute.  Alpha Tau Omega began as an idea in the mind of a young Civil War veteran who wanted peace and reconciliation.  Because of the vision of their founders, Alpha Tau Omega is privileged enough to be able to have over 240 chapters.  The founders of each of these fraternities had courage, conviction and drive for their fraternities many years ago. Congratulations to Alpha Phi and Alpha Tau Omega and remember what every member of the fraternities have done to make them what they are today.

Be A Fraternal Leader - The Jon Williamson Futures Quest
ato crest     Futures Quest provides leadership training to men who have joined a fraternity in the last year.  The focus of the weekend is identifying personal strengths and limitation, developing leadership and communication skills, exploring personal values and strength of conviction, and making a commitment to fraternal ideals.  Past participants have left with a plan for their future.    Only the top members of Fraternity communities from across North America apply to attend Futures Quest.  No previous leadership experience is necessary, however, a participant will need to possess a strong desire to learn about himself, be committed to his fraternal values, and be an active participant throughout the Quest.  We learn from each other, stretch our boundaries, discover strengths, and dream about a successful future for fraternities.      The Jon Williamson Futures Quest will be December 16-18, 2007 and January 4-6, 2008.  Register by December 1, 2007.  For more information, visit www.nicindy.org.
