"You don't have to change the world to change the world. Just choose one place and put your mind to the task. For to change a human is to change humanity. And to alter a moment is to change all time." – Unknown

Making the decision to join a Fraternity or Sorority will open up many leadership opportunities. Fraternity and Sorority members are known for their involvement and commitment to the Florida Institute of Technology. From scholarship honoraries, to service organizations, athletics, and student government, our members become involved in many campus activities. Our student leaders have been regularly elected to serve in the Student Government Association (SGA) as members of the senate and executive board.
There are also many opportunities within each individual chapter to hold positions which allow individuals to gain leadership abilities. Each chapter governs itself with its own elected officers. As a whole, the InterFraternity Council (IFC) supports the Fraternity community representing the men's organizations, and the Panhellenic Council represents the women's organizations. These bodies are made up of executive officers from various chapters as well as representatives from individual groups.
All chapters at Florida Tech have national affiliation. This means that they have chapters located across the nation, some even internationally. Every year these chapters participate in Regional and National Conferences, which bring together members from all chapter locations. During these conferences, members learn about developing their chapters and make lifelong connections.
As you can see, there are many ways one can be involved in leadership positions within the Fraternity and Sorority community. From local to national levels, there is a place for everyone to benefit from the leadership opportunities that stem from life as a fraternity or sorority member, it is a lifestyle that fosters growth and self-confidence.
The Student Life office at Florida Tech also tries to instill leadership in the students through a variety of programs such as L.E.A.D.S leadership development series, F.U.T.U.R.E.S and E.M.E.R.G.E programs for new students, and the Four Pillars leadership program. We are always trying to provide educational workshops and a curriculum that enables students to broaden their leadership knowledge base.
