Screening for Sexually Transmitted Diseases
is testing for an infection in the absence
of physical symptoms. Screening for STD’s,
including HIV, is not performed at the Holzer
Health Center. If you are concerned that
you may have been exposed to an STD and
are interested in screening please call
the Brevard County Health Department at
637-7300 for an appointment. Information
on STD’s can be located online at
the CDC website:
http://www.cdc.gov/nchstp/dstd/disease_info.htm#GenInfo
If you are currently experiencing symptoms
of infection, such as lower abdominal pain, burning with urination,
penile or vaginal discharge, or perineal lesions, you can
be seen and treated at either the BCHD or the Holzer Health
Center and have appropriate testing performed. It is important
to note that payment for testing at the Holzer Health Center
will be submitted to your personal insurance and bills may
be sent to the primary insured person. The staff at the Health
Center will be happy to discuss this with you and assist you
in obtaining appropriate treatment.
