Administrative/Professional:

Director of Housing

The Director of Housing serves as the primary administrator responsible for housing and residence life facilities at Florida Tech.  The Director supervises staff, assists in fiscal management of a self-supporting student housing system, and coordinates maintenance and facilities needs along with an active summer conferencing program.  This position serves as a member of the Auxiliary Enterprise Division of the University and must be able to communicate the mission, goals, and objectives of the Division to internal and external groups.

  • Budget preparation and monitoring of housing operations and administrative services.  Coordinates with the Dean of Students Office and the Assistant Dean of Students for Residence Life in the development of a vibrant living/learning community and in the retention of its students.
  • Manage the day to day housing administration and business functions including marketing and public relations for seven quad residence halls (housing approximately 750 students); Columbia Village (seven apartments/suite style facilities housing 336 students); and Southgate Apartments (nine apartment buildings housing 300 students).Monitors actual and projected occupancy levels and oversees and implements room selection process for new and returning students and determines initial housing assignments.
  • Supervise the Campus Services Office staff including the Housing and Meal Plan Coordinator; Administrative Assistant for Billing and Accounts Payable, Senior Clerk/Customer Service, and Summer Conference Housing student staff.
  • Works with other campus offices to maintain a strong summer conference program to ensure utilization of housing facilities to maximize revenues.  Coordinates all group housing and summer student housing assignments.
  • Ensures all federal, State, and local laws, fire and safety precautions and regulations are exercised in student housing .Coordinates with residence life the opening, closing and ongoing operation of student housing during the academic year (including breaks) and summer. 
  • Works with Orientation to incorporate housing staff and programs into fall and spring orientation programs.
  • Acts as liaison with campus safety, physical plant, and the contract custodial services vendor on matters pertaining to campus housing.
  • Participates in various university committees and offices in a team wide effort to provide outstanding quality and service to the campus community.

Experience and Education

Reporting to the Assistant VP for Auxiliary Enterprises this candidate must have                            excellent interpersonal skills along with strategic and entrepreneurial experience in an academic   environment.  Successful candidate must be committed to excellence with the ability to effectively communicate with campus constituencies.

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree with a Master's preferred in student personnel/college student development or higher education including 3 years of experience in student housing and residential life.  Must have exceptional written and oral communication, and work collegially with diverse populations.  Demonstrated ability to recognize and handle matters of confidential nature.

Associate Athletic Trainer

Florida Institute of Technology has an opening for a certified Associate Athletic Trainer starting June 1st.  This position is responsible for assisting with the overall management of the sports medicine program and athletic training room operations.  The Florida Tech athletic training staff is made up of three full-time certified athletic trainers.  Specific responsibilities include:  the care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries to student-athletes; serve as primary athletic trainer for certain sports as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer; assisting with athletic training room operations;  arrangements for injury and illness treatment by team physicians or other physicians as necessary; maintenance of complete, accurate, and detailed  medical records for all student-athletes; and performing other duties as assigned.

This position requires a Bachelor's degree with Master's preferred with at least four years of successful athletic training experience preferably in a university/college environment at the NCAA Division I, II, or III level.  NATABOC certification is required along with CPR and First Aid Instructor certification preferred.  Qualified candidate must be eligible for Athletic Trainer license through the State of Florida Department of Health.  Athletic Trainer license must be obtained immediately upon employment.

Florida Tech is a member of the NCAA Division II and participates in one of the premier leagues "Sunshine State Conference" (Conference of Champions) in 15 intercollegiate sports programs with expansion plans in the future.  This is a full time 12 month salaried position which includes an excellent package of University benefits.  Salary is dependent upon qualifications.  Position will remain open until filled.  Interested applicants should submit a cover letter and  resume along with three professional references to Human Resources.

Information System Specialist - Facilities Management

  • This position reports to Operations Administrator/Facilities Management
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate data relating to Space Inventory of all Florida Tech buildings
  • Work with University Architect to ensure accuracy of drawings and square footage information
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Facilities Management network to include maintaining backups of data
  • Must be familiar with creating, maintaining, and modifying web sites
  • Must have extensive computer knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Dependable, Independent, self-motivating, work with little supervision Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Preferred Knowledge of AutoCad, BANNER, Computer Aided Facilities Management software - Archibus, FM Studios
  • Working hours are Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm

Research Technician

The Research Technician position requires a Bachelors of Science degree in Marine or Freshwater Biology.  The candidate must be knowledgeable and proficient at ichthyoplankton sampling and be familiar with the St. John's River ecosystems taxonomy.  Certification in boating safety and small boat handling are required.

Lead Technician

The Lead Technician will provide tier 2 and 3 level support for all technical support related issues.  The technician will be the primary point of contact for the student based support staff for problem resolution.

  • Assist the Supervisor with daily workflow of the Technology Support center, to include training, coaching, planning and organizing support staff for daily operations as needed
  • Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for the campus and extended services
  • Respond to incoming support requests and record incidents in incident tracking system
  • Perform and monitor bench maintenance to ensure timely turnaround of repaired systems
  • Resolve technical problems related to Microsoft Windows environments and Microsoft Windows applications
  • Resolve technical issues related to Mac OS X and Linux operating systems and software
  • High School Diploma required.  Associates Degree with focus in technology or related industry certification preferred
  • Possess a minimum of 1 to 2 years experience as a technician in Call Center or external desktop computing support environment (Prior experience in a Tier 2/3 Support or Technical Lead position preferred)
  • Demonstrate functional knowledge of system and hardware troubleshooting and network technologies (A+ and Network + knowledge skill level preferred)
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal communication skills, including written and verbal communications
  • Demonstrate good customer service skills with a minimum 2 years experience
  • Demonstrate extensive working knowledge of Windows 2000, Windows XP and related Microsoft software
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Macintosh and Linux operating system
  • Possess a minimum of 1 years experience with desktop support systems (2 years preferred)

Support Services

Sr. Groundskeeper, Lawn care

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Service all Turf areas (mow, weed, edge and blow).  Replace sod as needed.
  • Recognizes and reports lawn pests and diseases on a timely basis.
  • Apply fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides and fungicides when necessary.
  • Renovate tree rings in turf with new edge bed and mulch.
  • Familiar with operation of all typical lawn care and landscape mowers and power equipment in a safe and proper manner.  Uses all PPE as needed.
  • Maintains and services all lawn care and power equipment as needed.
  • Assist with all campus functions and special event management and setup.

Qualifications and Abilities:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years experience operating mechanical and hydrostatic lawn mowers and other power equipment used in lawn care.
  • Must posses a valid Florida Drivers License and maintain a good driving record and be capable of operating pickup truck and utility vehicle in a safe manner.
  • Familiar with and knowledge of appropriate application and use of basic lawn care herbicides and pesticides.  Uses IPM management techniques as needed.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse work force as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to perform physical work including bending and lifting for long periods in hot weather.  Must be able to work on feet part of day and lift, carry or push at least 50 lbs.  Good physical health and condition an absolute necessity.
  • Normal hours are 7:00am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday but occasional overtime necessary as needed.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain valid Florida Pesticide Applicators License.
