Bereavement Leave
The University provides time off with pay to deal with the loss of an immediate family member.

Family and Medical Leave Policy
The purpose of this policy is to support the needs of Florida Tech's employees concerning medical emergencies. Employees should be able to attend to such emergencies without the additional worry of the loss of his/her position, or of an alternative position, or a loss/change of his/her medical benefits as a result of taking a leave from work for extended periods of time during such emergency.

Leave Usage and Time Reporting
We receive frequent inquiries regarding the proper method to report sick and/or vacation leave usage for salaried/exempt and hourly/non-exempt employees. This document will provide guidance about how to report time and leave usage for both salaried/exempt and hourly/non-exempt employees.

Sick Leave Policy and Procedure
The sole intent of providing paid sick leave is to protect employees from financial loss during times when they are unable to work because of sickness or injury. Sick leave may also be used for physician appointments and for attending to the needs of a member of the employee's immediate family as defined in section C(6) below.

Vacation Leave Policy
Florida Tech allows eligible employees paid time off during the year, subject to the operational needs of the University, to provide periodic relaxation and a change of pace.
