Dates and Deadlines for Oxford Study Abroad

Program applications and registration fees are due to the Study Abroad Office by December 3, 2009 for early acceptance.

Spaces are limited and are on a first come, first served basis for eligible students, so do not wait for the deadline to apply.

All participants should apply for a passport no later than January 30, 2010.

Non-U.S. citizens should begin obtaining UK visas during winter break.  Obtaining UK visas is the full responsibilty of the non- US student.  A letter will be provided by the office to assist in this effort upon the student's request.

Summer Course Registration: February 16, 2010

Program fees

Program fees are due on the following dates to the Study Abroad Office:

  • With application: $300 non-refundable application fee
  • February 1: $1,000*
  • May 5: Tuition and program balance (can come from financial aid):  $6,385** 
  • Optional group trip fees (Ireland):  Deposits are due in late February/early March and final balances are due when mandated by tour companies- usually in April.

* This $1,000 payment is immediately being wired to Jesus College, Oxford as your nonrefundable deposit.

** $1300 was paid in the 2 earlier installments.

All program fees are non-refundable.

Airfare

A group flight is possible if enough people apply in time. Budget $1,400 for the non-stop roundtrip from Orlando to London.  The deposit for the flight is usually $200 due in February.  The flight balance is usually due in April.

    2010 Program Itinerary:

     Friday July 2:  Depart the US for London

    Saturday, July 3:  Arrive London – Bus to Oxford – Check in at Jesus College - Casual group dinner in Hall

    Sunday, July 4:  Orientation to Jesus College and Oxford.  Welcome dinner at Jesus College

    July 5-9:  Classes  (London to see a play one night this week) Lunch in hall July 5, 6, 7

    July 10-11:  Free weekend  (optional London day trip & bike trip)

    July 12-15:  Classes  (Lunch in Hall July 12, 13, 14)

    July 16:  Move from main campus to flats followed by day trip (Warwick Castle or Blenheim Palace) and grocery shopping. (field trip optional)

    July 17:  Day trip:  Bath and Stonehenge (optional)

    July 18:  Free day

    July 19-22:  Classes

    July 23-26:  Free weekend.  Great weekend to go to Ireland, Paris, Scotland, UK beaches, Lake District, etc.

    July 27-30:  Classes

    Aug 31-2:  Free weekend

    Aug 3-5:  Classes

    Aug 6:  Exams.  Closing Dinner.

    Aug 7:  Free day

    Aug 8:  Departure (early morning)

    Aug 8:  Arrive US (yes- the same day you left the UK)

    *cooked breakfast in Hall July 4-16 (13 breakfasts)
