Orlando Airport Pickup Program

AirplaneThe Office of International Student and Scholar Services understands how confusing and exhausting it can be arriving in a new country. We have therefore made arrangements for a one-time courtesy service to first-time international students from Orlando Airport.

Please read the following guidelines for Orlando airport pick-ups of new students:

  1. This service is offered only for pickup from Orlando Airport.  Melbourne Airport is 5 to 10 minutes driving distance from Florida Tech.  Taxi cabs are readily available at a cost of approximately $10.00 for a ride to our campus.
  2. Only newly admitted students with valid Florida Tech initial I-20's  (F1 and M1 visas) or DS 2019's (J1 visas) are eligible for pickup. 
  3. For Spring 2011 students, we are offering pickup from December 31st, 2010 through January 9th, 2011. Students arriving before or after these dates will be responsible for their own airport pick-up arrangements.
  4. Mandatory Orientation for newly admitted Spring international students and scholars is on January 6th and 7th, 2011.   Classes begin on Monday, January 10th, 2011.  Please plan your arrival accordingly.
  5. Our deadline for accepting airport pick up requests is Friday, December 17th,  2010.  No requests will be accepted after this date. 
  6. If you arrive on or after Thursday, January 6th, 2011, you will be able to check-in to university housing. If you arrive prior to this date you are responsible for staying at a local hotel and for making your own transportation arrangements to campus for the first day of orientation.   Be sure to check our orientation webpage for further arrival information.
  7. If you would like to be picked up at the Orlando airport, please complete the Airport Pick Up Request, and we will arrange for your pickup. The information collected will be used solely for the operation of the Airport Pickup Program. ISSS or our contracted shuttle company will be in contact with you (via email) as to the status of your request.
  8. Please make sure that your final destination Airport Code on your ticket reads ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL (MCO).
  9. Once we have received your airport pickup request, our contracted shuttle company will send you a confirmation of pickup.  Any changes to your arrival information should be coordinated directly with the Shuttle Company, not our office.
  10. Please note: you will be charged a $50 cancellation fee if you fail to give adequate notice of any changes in flight details.

Remember that only after receiving an email from ISSS together with your confirmation from our contractual shuttle company is your place on the shuttle confirmed. Please allow at least two hours to collect baggage and clear through customs. Choose a shuttle time that will give you ample time to do this.

Please note vehicle capacity is limited, and this service is strictly for first-time students only. Family members are not included in this offer, and will be required to pay the driver for shuttle service.
