Study Aeronautics (and Learn To Fly) At Florida Tech

Why Florida Tech

A small, private research university located on Florida’s sunny Space Coast, Florida Institute of Technology is home to world-class faculty and relentlessly curious students who learn best by doing. Our roots are in space, and our vision reaches beyond it. As Florida’s STEM university, we’re hands-on, innovative and strong in majors across all disciplines.

Florida Tech is a Tier 1 Best National University (U.S. News & World Report), a Top 20 Technical Institute (Fiske Guide to Colleges) and a College of Distinction (Colleges of Distinction).

The Major You Want

We offer all our on-campus, undergraduate College of Aeronautics degree programs with a flight option, which prepares you for a career as a professional pilot and certifies you as an FAA multiengine commercial pilot with an instrument rating and knowledge of advanced aircraft upon graduation.

The best part? You don’t have to wait until your junior or senior year to man the cockpit: Florida Tech flight students fly one of our more than 30 aircraft within their first week of study!

Location Advantage

The best training comes from the seat of the cockpit, and thanks to sunny Melbourne’s 300+ days of flying weather annually, you can expect to learn while taking in the Space Coast’s 72 miles of Atlantic coast beaches from the skies year-round. Melbourne is also home to Melbourne Orlando International Airport, an international commercial airport.
