- Florida Tech senior Jenna Landis, a civil engineering major, has earned a $7,000 scholarship from Florida Rock Industries Inc. This is the second consecutive year Landis has earned the funding. She expects to graduate in May 2006.
Landis, who plans a career in structures or construction services, also participated in a 2005 summer internship at a Florida Rock Industries subsidiary, the Ready Mix concrete plant, in Sarasota, Fla. For eight weeks, she worked in the Technical Services Department, performing testing and data entry tasks.
While at Florida Tech, Landis has participated in a variety of career-related activities and has captured several honors. She is past president and current vice president of the Florida Tech chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and has been student chair of the Cape Canaveral Branch of ASCE for three years. She also undertook leadership roles on Florida Tech's concrete canoe and steel bridge team events. She is a member of the Chi Epsilon civil engineering honor society and is a Florida Engineering Society scholarship recipient.
Florida Rock Industires Inc. and its subsidiaries are principally engaged in three business segments. These are construction aggregates, concrete products, and cement and calcium products.
