Student Earns Honor from American Chemical Society

MELBOURNE, FLA.–Pranav Patel, a postdoctoral student working in the Florida Institute of Technology chemistry laboratory of Joshua Rokach, Ph.D., was chosen to receive the Outstanding Graduate Student Award for 2008 from the Orlando Section of the American Chemical Society. Patel earned a doctoral degree in chemistry from Florida Tech in 2008.

Rokach, a professor chemistry and director of the university’s Claude Pepper Institute, nominated Patel.

Florida Tech offers bachelor’s degrees in chemical management, general chemistry, premedical chemistry and research chemistry as well as master’s and doctoral degrees in chemistry.

The American Chemical Society is a congressionally chartered independent membership organization, which represents professionals at all degree levels and in all fields of chemistry and sciences that involve chemistry.
