We hope you will find the links on this page helpful in finding the information you want, and encourage you to plan a visit to experience for yourself how we fulfill our promise of High Tech with a Human Touch.

While important information on undergraduate admission, academics and campus life can be found elsewhere on our site, you'll find answers to some commonly asked questions below.

What is Florida Institute of Technology?

Florida Institute of Technology is a national, doctoral-granting, research university on the Atlantic Coast with a special focus on undergraduate education in an enriched technological environment. Florida Tech is a Barron's Guide "Best Buy," a Princeton Review "Best Southeastern College," the top private university in Florida according to Washington Monthly, and ranked among the top 7% of America's Universities by the U.S. News and World Report. The university's unique "High Tech with a Human Touch" approach prepares students for the careers of tomorrow in fields such as aeronautics, business, engineering, science, psychology and liberal arts. Will my child succeed at Florida Tech?

If your child meets or exceeds our undergraduate admission requirements, he or she will likely succeed in one of our rigorous academic programs. Once your child is here, we will provide all the necessary academic support and counseling services to facilitate that success. Students who thrive here tend to be studious, hands-on learners focused on the future. Our most successful students also actively participate in student organizations, athletics, internships and cooperative education, as well as other experiential opportunities.

Is Florida Tech affordable?

As college parents, information about financial aspects are critical. Florida Tech's cost of attendance is comparable to that of other prestigious national research universities. About 80% of our students receive some type of financial assistance. The Office of Financial Aid works hard to make a quality private education from Florida Tech affordable for all families by awarding merit-based and athletic scholarships and grants to qualified students, and by helping families apply for student/parent loans and Florida state aid. Our helpful staff is available to answer all your questions and has provided a financial aid FAQ as well as a list of other scholarship resources for your convenience. You should also be aware that Florida Tech offers a monthly payment plan to simplify budgeting.

What will my child's experience be like?

Our housing and dining services will provide your child with all the comforts of home. Academically, your child will be challenged from the start, taking required major courses as a freshman and having the opportunity to specialize in advanced sub-fields as early as sophomore year. At the same time, your child will receive the individual attention and mentorship of faculty who truly care about student success. In terms of the culture and "feel" of Florida Tech, your child will share a casual, diverse, and friendly atmosphere with peers who treat each other with respect, build friendships through mutual interests, and enjoy a balance between academics and having fun

Why should I visit?

There are a lot of benefits that come with a visit to Florida Tech, among them the opportunity to take a stroll through our beautiful Botanical Gardens, check out our world-class facilities, and get all your questions answered face-to-face. A visit to Melbourne also puts you within driving distance of the Kennedy Space Center and Orlando area theme parks and attractions. But the best reason to visit Florida Tech is that there's no better way for your child to get a "feel" for campus life at a prestigious and dynamic research university. Studies show that visiting is the best way to see if a college is the "right fit" for you. Plus, your child can earn $1000 each year up to four years. As college parents, the information you will gain by this visit will help you assist your child in this life changing decision.
