Law schools have been under attack in the popular press and the legal profession is changing in many ways. The traditional funding models for education are becoming increasingly problematic. Join Miami Law’s dean, Patricia D. White, as she addresses these issues and shares her vision for legal education and the profession. Dean White will discuss the ways in which Miami Law is anticipating the continuing effects that globalization, technology and the economy will have on the legal world.

Patricia D. White

Patricia D. White, Dean and Professor of Law at the University of Miami School of Law, was recently named America’s most influential woman in legal education by the National Jurist. She was also cited by the well-known legal blogger Brian Leiter as one of the nine transformative law deans in the first decade of this century. Prior to joining Miami Law, Dean White was dean of the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University for a decade.

Since becoming the dean of Miami Law in 2009, Dean White has continued her longstanding commitment to public service by founding Legal Corps, a unique and nationally lauded fellowship program that places bar certified Miami Law graduates in non-profit and public sector organizations nationwide. To date, 188 Legal Corps Fellows have provided more than 170,000 hours of legal assistance around the country. She has recently been asked to co-chair the American Bar Association’s new Legal Jobs Corps Initiative. Dean White is recognized by her colleagues as a forward-thinking leader and she devotes herself to anticipating the continuing effects that globalization, technology and the economy will have on the legal world.
