What is a Science Degree for the Military?

Because of the increasing importance of science and technology in our daily lives, Florida tech has recognized the need for an interdisciplinary program in the sciences that allows a student to enroll in a wide variety of science and engineering courses, supplemented by certain core courses and several carefully chosen electives. The most important characteristics of this degree are that it is flexible and tailored to the individual student's needs, and that it emphasizes broad training in science. The graduate with a science degree for the military will have a well-rounded appreciation of science and its place in society, and will have acquired specific tools for his or her career. Florida Tech's science degree for the military prepares ROTC cadets to serve as commissioned officers in the United States Army.

Internship Opportunities

Florida Tech interdisciplinary science students taking a military science option have the chance to experience unique military internships. These military internships take place in the form of leadership opportunities.

The Leadership Training Course is one of the military internships available to Florida Tech students. It provides hands-on training with real Army personnel and equipment with various credit rewards for completion.

Outside of military internships, our students also intern at many other companies, including:

Career Outcomes

Military science jobs are not the only career options that await those a science degree for the military, of course. Officers in the military serve as professionals in medical, legal, engineering and other fields, working in such specific areas as aerospace, environmental science, health care technology, personnel administration, purchasing and research and development.
