I love Civil Engineering and the fact that I was able to start engineering classes in my freshman year. I recently added a double major in Sustainability Studies, and this has allowed me to see what I want truly want to do for the rest of my life. With these two degrees, I will be able to pursue Sustainable Engineering.

The best part of my degree program is that you start right away with fun and interactive labs in Intro to Civil Engineering.

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

Civil engineering at Florida Tech is a rigorous, accredited curriculum that prepares students to enter the workforce with a minimum of additional training and a maximum of opportunity or for admission to top graduate schools. The program has five areas of engineering specialization available:

  • Systems
  • Environmental
  • Nuclear
  • Energy
  • Materials Science

Whether you want to develop aerospace facilities, design ocean structures or engineer a new transportation system, a civil engineering degree from Florida Tech develops a strong background in engineering with hands-on experience in computer-aided design and management.

Gain Practical Experience

During your first two years of your civil engineering degree program at Florida Tech, emphasis is placed on foundation courses in chemistry, mathematics, physics and engineering mechanics, augmented by practice-oriented civil engineering courses. Classroom study is enhanced through field trips and lab work.

As a senior, you'll complete a design project in collaboration with a team of your peers. Together, you'll conceptualize, design, construct and present a machine, gadget or structure that fulfills a real-world need and present the project to industry leaders and employers or you could even compete in international events.

As a result, you get practical experience, an expanded professional network and perhaps even a pre-graduation job offer.

Build Professional Relationships

Beyond the classroom, civil engineering degree students build leadership and professional experience through exciting internships and participation in academic organizations like Chi Epsilon (civil engineering honor society), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Student Government and over 100 other campus-wide student organizations.

Get Recruited Upon Graduation

Employers seek our graduates with a civil engineering degree from Florida Tech. Employers that have recruited our students for internships and careers include Boeing, Lockheed Martin, GE, Harris Corp. and Northrop Grumman.

Earn an Advanced Degree

After receiving their civil engineering degree, many of our students go on to graduate school at universities such as Florida Tech, Stanford, MIT, Johns Hopkins, Virginia Tech and Yale.
