Careers stemming from an accounting degree include, of course, working as an accountant. The United States Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes the Occupational Outlook Handbook, a resource that provides detailed information about hundreds of occupations including accountants, auditors and similar occupations. According to this handbook, the median wage reported in 2010 for accountants and auditors was $61,690. The same handbook projects employment growth for these careers in accounting to grow 16% by 2020.
