Training for Information Technology Management Jobs
Work Alongside Peers and Professionals for Real-World Experiences
Information technology management jobs at local businesses provide Florida Tech students an opportunity to test their skills in a real world environment. By forging relationships with outside companies through these jobs and internships, students are able to work alongside many well-known companies, including:
- Northrop Grumman
- Clear Channel Outdoor
- Merrill Lynch
- Harris Corporation
- Kennedy Space Center
These information technology management jobs allow students to experience what their future career will involve.
Bridge Classroom Learning and Real World Experience in the Major Field Practicum
The Major Field Practicum, a six-hour community service requirement, allows students to gather workplace experience in a local business while helping their community. Each student is matched with a host organization of interest where he or she learns how the organization functions and gains practical insight into problem-solving and decision-making processes.
Students also may be invited to independent study and research positions alongside faculty where they can learn and participate in the creation of marketing knowledge or in servicing a real client. Students also gain experience in corporate social responsibility by becoming actively engaged in a community organization. These experiences enhance classroom learning and prepare students for information technology management jobs.
Campus-Based Research Opportunities
In addition to internships, campus-based research opportunities build skills for future information technology management jobs such as:
- Center for Entrepreneurship and New Business Development - The center focuses on entrepreneurial education, global innovation and practical research in pursuit of new venture creation, sustainability, social value creation and venture acceleration.
- Center for Ethics and Leadership - The mission of the center is to promote the practice of ethical behavior and effective leadership by engaging in activities that provide a forum for research, discussion and a better understanding of ethics and leadership amongst all stakeholders in society.
Student Business Incubator – A Business-Launching Boot Camp
With the Student Business Incubator, Florida Tech provides an opportunity for students with exceptional business ideas to turn those concepts into business realities. The program gives select student startup businesses office space, computers and other supplies to help the business get off the ground. Our students can use this equipment, along with skills obtained from business courses and information technology management jobs, to turn their ideas into realities.
Business students learn alongside their international peers both on campus and through virtual teams bringing together students from around the globe using Cloud and Web technologies. Business majors also have an opportunity to study abroad through programs to areas such as Spain, the Netherlands and Oxford, England. These experiences provide new methods for finding information technology management jobs.
