Master of Science in Innovation and Entrepreneurship
The M.S. in Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MSIE) is tailored specifically for engineering and technology students who want to take a business idea or product from their vision to market. Florida Tech's integrated hands-on educational approach not only gives students an opportunity to develop their product, but to learn the many stages of development and the critical skills for run their business.
Start Your Business As You Learn
At Florida Tech, we do not simply teach innovation and entrepreneurship, we develop entrepreneurs. This is a radically different from any other program at Florida Tech. MSIE students focus on getting out in the field and "DOING," at every step of the process. This dynamic and non-linear learning process puts students center stage, working with customers, vendors, manufacturers, banks, and venture capitalists. Professors support the "learn-by-doing" methodology with a unique curriculum that encourages students to take risks, observe failures and push the boundaries of problem solving to become problem-finders. What follows are innovation and entrepreneurship students who become experts in their field, taking advantage of this paradigm shift to become better able to identify new product or service needs, new opportunities, or better market fits.
An innovation and entrepreneurship degree also demands that students develop skills in managing product commercialization including creating "pitch ready" projects that establish resume-worthy experiences with a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Student entrepreneurs must sell their idea to venture capitalists, prospects and potential customers.
It is through hands-on experiences like these that students strategically engage in the process of opportunity creation, discovery, exploration and commercialization to eventually become innovators and entrepreneurs.
