BS - Business and Environmental Studies
What is a Business and Environmental Studies degree?
If you're interested in the green movement and its relationship to commerce, then you have found the right major. With a Business and Environmental Studies degree at Florida Tech, you'll learn to apply economics to environmental concerns and issues related to the climate and natural resources, preparing you for a career in making the world a better place through better business practices. Graduates with a Business and Environmental Studies degree go on to jobs in management, advocacy, lobbying, marketing and consulting.

Learning
Clubs and Organizations: Society for the Advancement of Management (SAM),Delta Mu Delta,Collegiate Entrepreneurs,International Business Club,SAP Student User Group
Research: Business and environmental studies degree students have participated in the economic impacts study of the Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival, a premier ecotourism event. Faculty/student research papers have been presented at conferences including the Industrial Engineering and Management Systems Conference in Cocoa Beach, Fla., and the IAPAD conference in Orlando, Fla. Six students participated in a faculty research inquiry for a Ron Jon Surf Shop grant. Marketing Principles students conducted primary research for the Florida National Guard and organized an event that garnered 1.25 million impressions for the client.
Internships and Cooperative Learning: All Business and Environmental Studies degree students complete a Business Practicum in the second semester of their senior year. The practicum bridges the gap between classroom studies and the real world, easing the transition from business student to industry professional. Students are matched with a host organization of interest to them where they will conduct a "live case analysis" of the organization. Company partners include: Northrop Grumman, Clear Channel Outdoor, Merrill Lynch, State Farm, NASA, Kennedy Space Center, and many others.
Future Outcomes
Outcomes - Grad School: After graduation, Business and Environmental Studies degree students have an excellent background in the business and management fields and can directly enter the job market, in commerce, industry, government or other areas. Many students wish to continue into graduate school or enter one of the professional fields such as law, where t hey will have had an excellent undergraduate preparation. A number of our College of Business graduates attend graduate school. In addition to continuing their studies at Florida Tech, recent graduates have attended the University of Central Florida, George Mason University, Pennsylvania State University, Stetson Law School and the University of Miami.
Outcomes - Career and Salary: College of Business graduates have been employed by companies such as: Harris Corporation Northrop Grumman Rockwell Collins Health First Intersil NASA Wachovia The demand and salaries for accountants are excellent and accelerating. More job opportunities exist for Florida Tech accounting graduates than there are graduating seniors.

The Bachelor of Science in Business and Environmental Studies program emphasizes the application of economics to issues associated with the environment and the use of natural resources. It familiarizes students with both analytical and decision-making techniques used in assessing environmental concerns and the use of natural resources, and develops a balanced perspective on business and the environment.
