CPB Equipment Grant. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting is providing a matching funds grant for the purchase of a new digital transmitter, antennae and accompanying equipment needed to provide a multi-cast signal to its East Central Florida coverage area. WFIT will increase HD Radio transmission power by a combination of a larger circular polarized FM antenna and a larger FM transmitter to generate necessary power. The equipment is designed to yield full analog ERP with -14 dBc IBOC injection in Ibiquity MP3 operation mode.
A Florida Community Service Grant awarded by the Florida Department of Education. This grant includes a planning and construction component, which will allow WFIT to construct a new 5,000-square-foot broadcast facility on the Florida Tech campus. WFIT’s current facility has been plagued with health and safety issues and the station has outgrown its current space. The new building will alleviate these issues and accommodate future growth. The increased space will provide WFIT the opportunity to improve service to its listeners.
