Deans' Priorities

CelineThe Evans Library and Learning Commons

Celine Lang, Dean of Libraries

The Evans Library, dedicated in 1984 and is the intellectual and cultural heart of the university. Designed by the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and renowned architect James DeStefano, the library and learning commons building is an important campus and community landmark.

The library serves the campus and online community with research and instruction services. Collections exist for engineering, space, physics, biology, aeronautics, business, psychology, humanities and the arts. The library provides access to information resources from around the globe.

A transformation of the interior of the library building befits a premier university research library of the 21st century. Projects include a grand space for research, study, teaching, exhibitions and cultural events; a café; multimedia classrooms; and special collection spaces.
