Florida Tech Long Distance Dialing Service
Florida Tech offers a convenient long distance telephone service at very competitive rates to MCI, Sprint and AT&T. This system allows you to make domestic and international long distance calls from anywhere on campus. Additionally, billing will be sent monthly to your on-campus mailbox with the charge automatically deducted from your student account. To receive this service you must fill out an application available at http://telecom.fit.edu/application.htm or in the Telecommunications Office in building 409.

Collect Calls
To place a collect call dial 9 + 1 + 800 + COLLECT (265-5328). If you accept a collect, call you must notify the Telecommunications Office at ext. 8002. Failure to do so will result in a $50.00 charge to your student account.

Credit Card Calls
Sprint - Use the 800 number provided by Sprint on the back of the card.
MCI - Use the 800 number provided by MCI on the back of the card.
AT&T - Use the 800 number provided by AT&T on the back of the card.

Directory Information
All students who have a long distance authorization code have directory information services. For local information dial 9 + 1 + 321-555-1212 + your authorization code. For long distance information dial 9 + 1 + (area code) + 555-1212 + your authorization code call.

Local and Toll-Free Numbers
To place a local call dial 9 plus the seven-digit number. To place a toll free call, dial 9 + 1 and the ten digit number. There is no charge for local or toll free calls.

Long Distance Dialing
Florida Tech Long Distance System as carrier:
You can call any domestic or international number from any extension on campus. Simply dial 9 + 1 and the number you are calling (area code first) and enter your Authorization Code when prompted.
If you need to change your Authorization Code, please visit the Telecom office during normal office hours. (Bring your Student ID Card!!)
All other carriers:
Each carrier will provide you with a toll-free access number. After dialing 9 and the access number, each carrier will provide a voice prompt with instructions for completing the call.

Operator Assistance
You can reach the Florida Tech operator by dialing 0. The operators are on duty from 7:30am - 5:00pm Monday through Friday. You cannot reach an outside operator.

Repair Service
If you have a problem with your telephone line contact your Resident Assistant (students only) or the Telecommunications Office by email at telecom@fit.edu or call extension 8002 during normal hours of operations.
