Florida Tech will transfer credit for courses taken at another
university that is accredited by a major regional accrediting
association in the United States.
Credit is granted on a course-by-course basis. The courses taken must be equivalent
to those given at Florida Tech in course content and hours, and you must have
received a grade of C or better. Courses for transfer must have been completed
within the last 10 years prior to Florida Tech enrollment. Credits from international
colleges and universities are only transferred if the international college
or university is listed in the Handbook of International Universities.

An unofficial transfer of credit evaluation (UTCE) is performed by the Office
of Admission upon admission. A UTCE is an estimation, by admission personnel,
of the credit you will be granted. UTCEs are conservative in their estimates
and may reflect a higher number of elective credit if admission cannot directly
match courses to those offered at Florida Tech. UTCEs are performed on credits
being transferred from U.S. colleges and universities only. An “official” transfer
of credit evaluation for US colleges and universities is completed by the Office
of the Registrar after receipt of the $300 tuition deposit. It is a more
detailed evaluation performed by the academic units responsible for the equivalent
Florida Tech courses. Once a student is enrolled, the official transfer
of credit is reported on the students transcripts in terms of equivalent Florida
Tech course identifications.

College credit for prior flight certificates and ratings will be awarded by
Florida Tech after an evaluation by our flight training department. It is a
university policy and a FAA requirement that we have complete records of all
flight student training, including an evaluation of prior flight experience.
Students with prior flight experience will take a multiple-choice written exam,
will have their logbooks evaluated and will be given a flight-check ride to
determine flight proficiency. Based on the results of the evaluation, students
will be awarded Advanced Standing credit commensurate with their current
flight proficiency. If you have done training at a FAA Part 141 flight school,
it is recommended that you supply, to our School of Aeronautics, copies of
your Part 141 flight training syllabi and graduation certificates to help speed
the evaluation process. It is also recommended that you provide copies of all
flight certificates and ratings, copies of the last two pages of your logbook
and a copy of your current flight medical certificate.
Grades and grade points are not transferable. Once you matriculate to Florida
Tech, your transcripts will indicate transfer courses. Your GPA starts new
at the completion of your first semester at Florida Tech.
