Information for Admitted International Students

You've Been Admitted!  What Now?

Congratulations! You've been admitted. The tough part is over, but the process of attending college is just beginning. There are several things you need to do before you attend Florida Tech. The following checklist and Information and Resources For Incoming Students below it will get you through the process.

Your Checklist

 Carefully read over the information that accompanied your letter of admission. It contains important instructions for you to follow and forms that need to be completed before you enroll.

  1.  All students who plan to attend Florida Tech must submit a $300 tuition deposit to reserve a place in the incoming class. You can either pay the deposit online by credit card, or you can print the Attendance Confirmation Form and mail it to the Office of Admission with a check for $300. The Attendance Confirmation form will also be enclosed in your admission packet.
  2. I- 20 Request Form for International Applicants
    All International applicants must complete this form if requesting an I-20.
    With appropriate financial documents, Florida Tech will issue an I-20, that is, a "Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Status". This certificate is the document you will present to the U.S. Consulate officer in your country to obtain an F-1 student visa. Check the memorandum that comes with your letter of admission to see which documents you are missing.
  3. International Transfer Eligibilty Form
    All International transfer students who are attending another school in the U.S. must complete this form if requesting an I-20.
  4. After you've sent your tuition deposit, you need to complete the housing and meal plan applications. A full Housing and Meal Plan brochure and contracts will also be mailed to you in early March for the Fall semester.
  5. The Student Health History Form must be submitted prior to arrival on campus.
  6. Aviation Majors Only: Students enrolled in a flight program must arrive with a current FAA/Student Pilot Class II medical certificate. You can locate an Aviation Medical Examiner in your area through the following FAA Web site: http://ame.cami.jccbi.gov There are Examiners located in countries throughout the world>
  7. Read all the mail you get from Florida Tech. We will be sending you important information and reminders throughout the year, so don't throw anything away!
  8. Freshmen- Be sure you send your final secondary school records or leaving certificates with your final grades and graduation date.
    Transfer Students- Be sure to send your final college transcript if you are currently enrolled in classes.

Information and Resources For Admitted Students

Registration

After paying the tuition deposit, freshmen will automatically be registered for classes according to their major. Your class schedule will be mailed to you about one month prior to the start of class. Any changes that need to be made in your schedule can be made during New Student Orientation. In subsequent semesters, you will register yourself. Transfer students will register upon arrival.

Student Housing and Meal Plans

Information about Student Housing and Meal Plans. All new students seeking on campus housing and meal plans must submit these forms with their $200 housing deposit. Download, print and mail these forms with the $200 housing deposit. All freshman and transfer students with less than 24 earned semester hours are required to live on campus. For exemption from this requirement, please refer to the Freshman Residency Requirement.

Student Health Insurance Information
Get information about or request a waiver for university health insurance. All students attending Florida Tech must have health insurance coverage. Florida Tech offers health insurance for students who do not have their own coverage.
