Information for Admitted Transfer Students

You've Been Admitted!  What Now?

Congratulations! You've been admitted. The tough part is over, but the process of transferring to Florida Tech is just beginning. There are several things you need to do before you attend. The following checklist and Information and Resources For Incoming Students below it will get you through the process.

Your Checklist

  1. Apply For Financial Aid! To be considered for all types of financial aid, you must complete the FAFSA. You can get a copy from your financial aid office, or complete the online version: www.fafsa.ed.gov. Our Title IV code for the FAFSA is 001469.
  2. Carefully read over the information that accompanied your letter of admission. It contains important instructions for you to follow and forms that need to be completed before you enroll.
  3. All students who plan to attend Florida Tech must submit a $300 tuition deposit to reserve a place in the freshmen class. You can either pay the deposit online by credit card, or you can print the Attendance Confirmation Form and mail it to the Office of Admission with a check for $300. The Attendance Confirmation form will also be enclosed in your admission packet.
  4. After you've sent your tuition deposit, you need to complete the housing and meal plan applications. A full Housing and Meal Plan brochure and contracts will also be mailed to you in early March for the Fall semester.
  5. The Student Health History Form must be submitted prior to arrival on campus.
  6. Aviation Majors Only: Students enrolled in a flight program must arrive with a current FAA/Student Pilot Class II medical certificate. You can locate an Aviation Medical Examiner in your area through the following FAA Web site: http://ame.cami.jccbi.gov
  7. Read all the mail you get from Florida Tech. We will be sending you important information and reminders throughout the year, so don't throw anything away!
  8. Be sure to send your final college transcript if you are currently enrolled in classes.
  9. Come to Orientation!

Information and Resources For Admitted Students

Registration

You will be able to register for your classes after you pay your tuition deposit. You can either register during New Student Orientation or prior to Orientation (subject to availability of your academic advisor). To register prior to Orientation, you must contact your academic department and schedule an appointment to meet with an academic advisor.

Undergraduate Transfer Credits

Undergraduate transfer students may register prior to Orientation if:

  • The student meets all of Undergraduate Admission requirements to include becoming tuition deposit paid or waived; - and -

  • The student completes possible Placement Exams; - and -

  • The student discusses their schedule with his or her academic advisor;

You have three registration options:

  1. The academic advisor lifts the student’s flag allowing PAWS online registration;

  2. The student comes to the Registration Center with a Registration Form signed by the academic advisor;

  3. The student’s academic department registers the student on his or her behalf;

If you experience difficulty registering through PAWS due to closed classes or prerequisite/co-requisite issues, contact your academic department for assistance.

Student Housing and Meal Plans

Information about Student Housing and Meal Plans. All new students seeking on campus housing and meal plans must submit these forms with their $200 housing deposit. Download, print and mail these forms with the $200 housing deposit. All freshman and transfer students with less than 24 earned semester hours are required to live on campus. For exemption from this requirement, please refer to the Freshman Residency Requirement.

Student Health Insurance Information - Get information about or request a waiver for university health insurance. All students attending Florida Tech must have health insurance coverage. Florida Tech offers health insurance for students who do not have their own coverage.
