What is General Biology?
General biology provides a broader background than the other more specialized options. It allows the student more flexibility in the choice of courses and can be customized to fit an individual student's interests and goals. The General Biology option is recommended for students who have an interest in studying the life sciences, but in a less specific program.
What Will I Study?
Your studies will include a wide range of material spanning many areas of biological science. Our students can also select elective courses from a variety of areas, including cell and molecular biology, organismic biology, marine biology, ecology and aquaculture.
What Courses Will I Take?
Review the core courses online at https://paws.fit.edu/pls/prod/bwckctlg.p_disp_dyn_ctlg or view the University Catalog. In addition to the required program core courses, elective courses can be selected in biology, chemistry, environmental science and oceanography.
What Research Opportunities are Available?
In addition to research opportunities provided through our Office of Sponsored Programs and other university sources, we offer unique and exciting field research opportunities as part of the curriculum. Our Ecology majors are required to take at least two summer field courses but students in other disciplines are encouraged to enroll in these courses as well:
