Are scholarships available? Is financial aid available?
Scholarships are available to all admitted candidates. Federal financial aid is available for U.S. citizens and permanent residents of
the United States.
How much financial aid can I expect to receive?
It depends on your financial need level, but Florida Tech offers very generous financial aid packages that make a quality education at
a private university affordable. The average transfer student attending Florida Tech receives approximately $22,000 in financial aid.
How do I apply for financial aid and what documents are required?
If you have never applied for financial aid before, you need to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with a federal processor. If you are currently receiving federal financial aid at your current college or university, you will need to list Florida Tech on your renewal form when received from the federal government. If you have already sent in your renewal form, you will need to contact the processor and ask that they send a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) to Florida Tech. Florida residents have an additional residency verification form to complete that is available from the Office of Financial Aid.
Where do I get a FAFSA?
From the Office of Financial Aid at your current college or university or the Office of Admissions, or the Office of Financial Aid at Florida Tech. You can also apply via the Web at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.
What is Florida TechÍs code for the FAFSA?
Our Title IV code for FAFSA is 001469. Be sure to list our number. It will ensure that we receive a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR).
What is the deadline to apply for financial aid?
For attendance in the Fall term of a given year, priority consideration is given to applicants who file the FAFSA on or before March 15. You must be admitted to the university before a financial aid award can be offered. We recommend you apply for financial aid at the same time you apply for admission.
What types of financial aid are available and will I qualify for aid?
We strongly recommend you apply, you will more than likely qualify for some type of aid. Florida Tech offers grants based on financial need. Florida Tech also participates in the federal financial aid programs and students can be considered for federal grants, student loans, self-help programs and loans to parents of students. Florida residents will additionally be considered for the Florida State financial aid program, including Bright Futures Scholarships, Florida Resident Access Grant (FRAG) and Florida Student Assistant Grant (FSAG.)
How long before I know how much aid I will receive?
That depends on how early you apply for admission and financial aid. The process generally takes two weeks after we receive your FAFSA results from the federal processing center. Apply early! WeÍll let you know as soon as possible.
When are scholarships awarded?
IIf you are eligible, scholarships from Florida Tech are automatically awarded at the time of admission, there are no other forms required for academic scholarships.
What scholarships are available?
Florida Tech offers transfer students scholarships for academic and athletic excellence. For academic awards, we offer the Transfer Scholarship and Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship.
Florida Tech Transfer Scholarship—Up to $5,000 per year if the student’s cumulative GPA is 3.0 or higher and the student has completed 30 transferable semester hours at one or more other accredited institutions. This scholarship is mutually exclusive and cannot be combined with the Florida Tech Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship.
Florida Tech Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship—Up to $10,000 per year if the student applies and is admitted to Florida Tech and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Proof of Phi Theta Kappa membership must be submitted at time of application. This scholarship is mutually exclusive and cannot be combined with the Florida Tech Transfer Scholarship.
Army ROTC Scholarships are available for Transfer students. Winners also recieve a university grant for room and board during the term of their ROTC scholarship at Florida Tech.
Athletic scholarships are awarded by individual coaches through the Office of Athletics. Florida Tech competes in men's basketball, baseball, soccer, crew, tennis, golf and cross country. Scholarships are available in womenÍs basketball, softball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, golf, crew and cross country.
Earn $1,000 toward your financial aid package! Any U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident who is admitted to the university and has filed the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by March 1 will be eligible for an Early Filers Award of $1,000 annually.
Additional grants available regardless of need include:
Florida Tech Legacy Grant—Sons and daughters of Florida Tech alumni, enrolling in a full-time undergraduate program at Florida Tech, are eligible for a $2,500 grant.
This award is renewable for up to four years. This award is given in addition to any merit scholarship earned by the student.
“Keep it in the Family” Grant—Sisters and brothers of students who are currently enrolled simultaneously as full-time undergraduates at Florida Tech are eligible for a $2,500 grant. This grant is renewable for up to four years. This grant is given in addition to any merit scholarship earned by the student. Both students, enrolled at the same time, will receive this grant.
Florida Tech Alumni Endorsement Grant— Have a graduate of Florida Tech
submit the Alumni Endorsement Grant Form on your behalf and you can earn a $1,000 grant renewable annually for up to four years. The form must be submitted by January 15. A student may receive only one Alumni Endorsement Grant. Click here to print our Alumni Endorsement Grant form.
Florida Tech Campus Visit Travel Grant— If you visit our campus, apply and ultimately enroll fulltime, we’ll give you a $500 Campus Visit Travel Grant to help defray the expenses of your campus visit.
Are there other financing options available?
Florida Tech offers a monthly tuition payment program to finance the remainder of your cost after financial aid. This is an interest-free plan that divides your remaining costs over a 10-month payment plan.
