The intent of the minor is to encourage and recognize focused study in a field outside of the student’s major. Our curriculum is already quite rigorous, and the extra work required for a minor could add more time to a student’s stay. But, it’s purely optional and we hope that students will appreciate the availability of a minor in a field that is useful or interesting to them.

The minors require 18 to 21 credit hours of selected course work. Up to nine hours of this work may be applied from within the student’s major curriculum.

Minors may be chosen from within or outside the student’s major college or school. Minors will be indicated on the student's transcript and resulting diploma.

It is not necessary to declare a minor at the time of admission. Students will be evaluated for admission based solely on their major of choice. Students may declare a minor at the time of enrollment or at anytime during their Florida Tech career.

Minors are under currently consideration in other disciplines as well. For further information, contact your admission counselor.
