How I spent my summer… Jonathan Bredemeyer Senior, Computer Engineering Ft. Pierce, Fla. Bryan Jenks Senior, Computer Engineering Clearwater, Fla. Dave Kincaid Senior, Computer Engineering Hudson, N.C. Joe Pearce Senior, Computer Engineering Ocala, Fla. AN INTEGRATED IDEAS SUMMER After researching ideas for a Junior and Senior Design project, these four computer engineering students started their own business, Integrated Ideas and Systems, Inc. Integrated Ideas is a contract engineering firm specializing in business services and invention development. Their four main areas of expertise are embedded computing, mechanical systems, software solutions and systems integration. Currently, Integrated Ideas employs nine Florida Tech students and alumni. Here are a few words about how Integrated Ideas spent their summer. Over the summer, we established two software development teams to work on projects. The most prevalent projects were database driven web applications and data management systems. We’ve also done work in the financial planning, real estate, accounting, Christian music and social entertainment industries. You can see many of Integrated Ideas’ staff walking across campus on a daily basis. The Campus Activities Board (CAB) president, Jonathan Bredemeyer, acts as COO and head project manager. “Student Leader of the Year” David Kincaid is head of sales and marketing. Bryans Jenks, Integrated Ideas’ head engineer, is usually seen running from class to class close to the speed of light. Other current Florida Tech students that worked with Integrated Ideas over the summer include Nik Doukellis, senior, software engineering; Bryan Stoddart, senior, computer engineering; Jason Schuler, senior, mechanical engineering; and Andres Gonzalez, junior, computer science. This summer was a learning experience for the entire team. We had to learn how to more efficiently manage our time, budget and developers. Through persistence, and a little trial and error, Integrated Ideas now has the ability to develop two major and two minor projects at the same time. Integrated Ideas also spent its summer building up relationships within the community. David Kincaid led these efforts by participating in many of the Melbourne-Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce events. We’ve also partnered with a Puerto Rican telecommunication company to form a joint venture to create projects specially geared towards operations management and financial transaction tracking. The team’s developers also created two brand new businesses. FSBO-Broker.com is an online real estate sales site that partners people wishing to sell their homes on their own with professional real estate brokers. Another soon to be successful site that was created as a part of this summer’s efforts is KwikDates.com. This site will facilitate the matching of couples who participated in one of Kwik Dates’ speed dating events. Joe Pearce, Integrated Ideas President and CEO, recently announced his candidacy for Palm Bay City Council Seat 3. He is running on a platform of creating a Palm Bay with a stronger infrastructure, more jobs, stronger police and fire force, and lower taxes.
