Aquaculture
is the theory and practice of culturing marine and freshwater plants
and animals. It is commonly called fish farming, although Aquaculture
has other applications as well. Florida Tech established the first
undergraduate Aquaculture program in the United States in 1977. With
the recent completion of this new facility, faculty and students have
expanded opportunities to conduct research. Emphasis is placed on culture
methodology of commercially important organisms such as phytoplankton,
zooplankton, crustaceans, molluscs and fish.
