Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) Accreditation

Florida Institute of Technology, College of Aeronautics, offers four undergraduate programs accredited by the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI).

As part of the accreditation process, the College of Aeronautics is required to publish a report of student achievement data including the following:

  • Objectives of each accredited program
  • Program assessment measures employed
  • Graduation rates
  • Rates and types of employment of graduates

Objectives of each accredited program

The College of Aeronautics has adopted the following program learning objectives (PLOs) for each of the four AABI-accredited programs.

Students successfully completing any of the four College of Aeronautics AABI accredited undergraduate programs will be able to:

  1. Apply mathematics, science, and applied sciences to aviation related disciplines;
  2. Analyze and interpret data;
  3. Work effectively on multi-disciplinary and diverse teams;
  4. Make professional and ethical decisions;
  5. Communicate effectively using both written and oral communication skills;
  6. Engage in and recognize the need for life-long learning;
  7. Assess contemporary issues;
  8. Use the techniques, skills, and modern technology necessary for professional practice;
  9. Assess the international aviation environment;
  10. Apply pertinent knowledge in identifying and solving problems;
  11. Apply knowledge of business sustainability to aviation issues.

Program Assessment Measures Employed

The CoA has a formal, comprehensive assessment system to ensure program effectiveness and student success relative to each of the 11 program objectives above. The assessment system results are used to ensure continuous program and student performance improvement.

Each objective is assessed with at least one measure unique to the objective and one target for each measure. Measures include:

  • Examinations
  • Written assignments
  • Presentations
  • Surveys
  • Capstone assignments
