Time will be reserved at the end for YOU to ask Angie your questions!
Angie Lassman is an American Meteorological Society certified broadcast meteorologist with a bachelor of science and master of science in Meteorology, both from Florida Tech. She is currently a part of the First Alert Weather team for NBC 6 WTVJ in Miami, Florida where she anchors and produces weather segments, as well as creates environmental/climate stories for weekly segments. She received a Bronze Telly Award for her work on the documentary, Unprecedented: A Climate Check Special, and a Suncoast Regional Emmy Award for the NBC6 First Alert Hurricane Special.
At Florida Tech, Angie was a part of a scientific research team, a volleyball athlete, two-year team captain, and a college instructor. She was also a facilitator for the Department of Space Sciences, educating Florida Division for Emergency Management officials and law enforcement on proper procedures and crisis management in case of a coronal mass ejection (i.e. space weather emergency).
Although Angie is a scientist, she feels the rise of extreme weather has highlighted a need for more educated voices in the field of broadcast meteorology. She hopes to utilize the TV weather platform to have a positive impact in the community.
