In recognition of Women’s History Month, the Florida Tech Alumni Association celebrates four individuals (a student, an alumna, a staff member, and a faculty member) who embody the spirit of promoting women’s participation and development within the Florida Tech community.

Keynote Speaker - Elaine Larsen
The keynote speaker is Elaine Larsen, a two-time world champion jet dragster driver and co-founder of Florida Tech partner Larsen Motorsports. Larsen has been the longtime driver of the Florida Tech jet dragster.

Please park in one of the parking lots off of Country Club Road on campus, the closest one being the lot across from the John E. Miller Building. Walk across the street following the road between the Miller Building and the Keuper Building until you reach the Denius Student Center. Enter through the front doors and take the stairs to the 2nd floor. The Hartley Room is on the left. The elevator is located outside of the Denius Student Center and that will also take you to the 2nd floor.

Women Inspiring Success & Excellence Awards - Nominations
2022 Nomination Period is CLOSED.
Florida Tech will recognize four individuals (a student, an alumna, a staff member, and a faculty member) who embody the spirit of promoting women’s participation and development within the Florida Tech community.
Awardees will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Earns the respect of community and colleagues as a role model/mentor for other women and girls
- Acts as a leader in their field of expertise and reinforces practices that emphasize inclusion and equality
- Invests in their personal, professional development through networking, mentoring, education, etc.
- Embodies the spirit of promoting women’s participation and development
These awards were inspired by Joan Bixby, Florida Tech alumna and former university administrator. Bixby, who earned a Florida Tech master’s degree in contract and procurement management in 1975, started her university career as a development director in 1965, and remained an active member of the university community until her death in December 2011.
