The student counseling center of Florida Institute of Technology can help students learn how to work through life's challenges, heal emotional pain, and develop the necessary skills to lead healthy and balanced lives.

The staff at the student counseling center of Florida Institute of Technology consists of a Director, Staff Psychologists, and an Administrative Assistant. The center also serves as one of the advanced practicum sites for graduate students within the School of Psychology & Liberal Arts who are pursuing their doctorate in clinical psychology.
Dr. Tapley received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She received her Master of Science Degree and Doctorate from the Florida Institute of Technology. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Memphis, Center for Counseling, Learning, and Testing. Dr. Tapley is a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Florida. She serves as the Director of the student counseling center, managing the center’s operations and the practicum training program, serving on a variety of campus-wide committees, providing consultation, supervision, and clinical services, and providing outreach to the campus community. Dr. Tapley is also an Assistant Professor for the School of Psychology and Liberal Arts, directs the Office of Disability Services, and is the Faculty Advisor for the campus chapter of Active Minds. In addition, she serves on a variety of boards and committees at both the local and state level.
Dr. Sloane received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Florida. She received her Master of Science Degree and Doctorate from the Florida Institute of Technology. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of South Florida, Counseling Center for Human Development. Dr. Sloane is a Licensed Psychologist, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and a Certified Sex Therapist in the State of Florida. She serves as a Staff Psychologist and the Group Therapy Coordinator at the student counseling center, providing clinical services, managing the group therapy program, supervising clinical psychology doctoral students, and providing outreach to the campus community. Clinical interests include working with issues related to Asperger’s Disorder or Learning Differences, relationship concerns, sexuality issues, and wellness. In addition, Dr. Sloane has provided training at the local and national level on a variety of topics related to Autism Spectrum Disorders, and is a member of the Community Advisory Board of the Florida Institute of Technology’s Scott Center for Autism Treatment and Research.
Ms. Quintero serves as the Administrative Assistant of the student counseling center, providing customer service assistance to those who make contact with the center and supporting the center’s daily operations. She has many years of experience in the customer service field, utilizing her skills in both educational and company settings.
