Personal Overview

Dr. Rosser has an extensive aviation background. He has in excess of 15 years’ experience as a regional airline pilot. In addition to this experience, he has worked as a Certified Flight Instructor for many years. Dr. Rosser’s current position with the College of Aeronautics has provided him with an opportunity to help develop future pilots and aviation professionals.

Professional Experience

Dr. Rosser first earned his Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate in 1987 and began working as a Flight Instructor in that year. After working as a CFI for two years, he was hired by Suburban Airlines, which was a wholly-owned subsidiary of USAirways. After a series of mergers and name changes, the airline is known today as Piedmont Airlines and is owned by American Airlines. Dr. Rosser worked for the airline for 15 years, upgraded to Captain and was eventually selected as a Check Airman for the company. Upon leaving the airline, Dr. Rosser began his career in higher education, working at Marywood University in their fledgling Aviation program.

Dr. Rosser was hired by Florida Institute of Technology in 2008 and in 2010 was named as the Undergraduate Division Director. Dr. Rosser has worked on several committees both within the College of Aeronautics as well as for the university. In 2014, Dr. Rosser was chosen as the Chair of the Flight Education Committee.
