Florida Tech Flight Team

The Florida Institute of Technology Flight Team is a 34 time nationally qualifying
collegiate flight team composed of competitive pilots who are dedicated to learning and
growing their flight skills. The team spans across all grades from freshman
undergraduate students to graduate students, across a number of different majors in
aviation, engineering, and science, and across all levels of flight training. We pride
ourselves on being an inclusive team for those who are interested in aviation.

We have competed at both regional competitions and national competitions of the
National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA). These competitions test our
members' knowledge in flight, and their aviation ground knowledge. The flight portion of
the competitions consist of message drop, power-off landings, short field landings, and
unlimited navigation. The ground events test knowledge of cross country flight planning,
aircraft recognition, preflight inspection, and the use of a mechanical E6B flight

Our goal is to raise money to fund our trip to the 2022 Region IX SAFECON competition
in Lakeland, Florida hosted by Sun 'n Fun. At this competition, we have the opportunity
to qualify for the National competition this coming spring. We will compete against other
universities from Florida and Alabama. While we are there we will also have the
opportunity to network with fellow pilots, aviation enthusiasts, as well as local and
national aerospace and aviation companies. For many, the competition is an excellent
opportunity for students to talk with future employers and network with recruiters.
