My name is Max O’Hagan and I have been on the golf team here at Florida Tech for the past four years where I have earned All-American honours each year. Last Christmas I was invited to play in a golf tournament in Arizona called the Patriot All-America where each player carries a bag with the name of a fallen hero upon it.
It was my honour to play for Army Staff Sgt Mathew S. Sitton. SSG Sitton died August 2nd 2012 in Zharay, Khandar province Afghanistan of wounds caused by an enemy IED during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. SSG Sitton received many awards including the Bronze Star, the Army Achievement Medal and the Army Commendation Medals to name a few.
This golf tournament was in honour of the Fold of Honor foundation where all proceeds raised from this bag will be sent directly back to this amazing foundation. The Foundations mission is to provide education scholarships to families of military servicemen and women who have fallen or been disabled while on active duty for the United States Armed Forces. SSG Sitton’s son is a Fold of Honor scholarship recipient and it has made a monumental effect on their lives and the lives of other military families.
During this tournament I was fortunate enough to meet a family who have benefited from the Fold of Honor foundation. The impact the Fold of Honours Foundation has made on their lives amazed me as they enable families who have gone through the toughest of times hope and support. All the money raised from this bag will be sent back to the Fold of Honour foundation so that they can continue to support more families. Please support your veterans and the sacrifices they have made for your country.
One ticket will be drawn on a date to be announced in September to win the golf bag below signed by Max and the other tournament participants.
