Quality Enhancement Plan

- has a topic identified through its ongoing, comprehensive planning and evaluation processes;
- has broad-based support of institutional constituencies;
- focuses on improving specific student learning outcomes and/or student success;
- commits resources to initiate, implement, and complete the QEP; and
- includes a plan to assess achievement.

Florida Tech’s first QEP, carried out from 2004 to 2014, focused on scholarly inquiry, with the goal of having all students participate in research or other culminating project before graduating from Florida Tech. As part of this effort, all programs were required to have a capstone course that students would take in their senior year. As this QEP was completed and institutionalized, these courses can still be found in the catalog and include a ‘(Q)’ at the end of their description.
Our second QEP, currently underway, has focused on the internationalization of the Florida Tech campus. The primary product of this effort has been the Cross-Cultural Competence Certificate, a non-credit certificate program open to all Florida Tech main campus students. The program involves multiple cross-culturally-focused activities selected by the student, which can include Study Abroad, academic courses, student organization involvement, campus event participation, internships, and workshops.
