Statute of Limitations for Ph.D./D.B.A./Av.D. Degree Programs

(Graduate Policy 2.8)

The statute of limitations for students pursuing the doctoral degree is five years from the end of the academic semester during which the comprehensive examination was successfully completed. If this period should expire prior to completion of the degree, the doctoral committee is dissolved and the student is not permitted to register.

If the student wishes to continue enrollment in the program, a new doctoral committee, (which may or may not include member(s) from the previous committee), as determined by the major advisor, must be formed and the comprehensive examination must be re-administered. This new examination should reflect developments of importance in the area of study occurring since the first examination as well as areas of general importance.
