Purpose

All recruitment and employment activities for Florida Tech are conducted in accordance with applicable University, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies concerning equal employment opportunity and affirmative action.

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that the Florida Tech will attract and retain the most highly qualified workforce available to us. It is our intention to make known information about employment opportunities at the University to the largest practicable number of persons necessary to ensure compliance with the law, attraction of new employees, and recognition and development of current employees.

Policy

Florida Tech is committed to employing the best qualified candidates while engaging in recruitment and selection practices that comply with all applicable employment laws.  It is the policy of Florida Tech to provide equal employment opportunity to all applicants and employees. 

Procedures

The hiring manager creates a position and job requisition in Workday.  The normal posting period for any position is a minimum of five (5) working days.  During the posting period, the Hiring manager reviews applications.

Recruitment sources will include some or all of the following:

  • Florida Tech careers site
  • Florida Tech internal careers site
  • Online job boards
  • Employee referrals

Hiring managers are responsible for conducting timely, effective interviews of qualified candidates.  The HR departments is available to advise hiring managers on interview techniques and final candidate selection. 

Upon the selection of the final candidate, the hiring manager will initiate the offer process in the HRIS. 

The HR department will extend the verbal offer of employment to the candidate selected.  The HR department will provide an electronic offer of employment that is contingent upon the successful completion of a required background check.
